Before you head out: a two-minute coastal day check.
Bookmark official weather, road and meeting sources for the decisions that change day to day.
School runs, jobsite visits, showings and weekend plans all depend on conditions beyond the calendar. Use the original source when the information changes quickly.
Check conditions where you are going
The National Weather Service New Orleans/Baton Rouge office provides local forecast and hazard resources. Use its location tools to check your destination, and follow the issuing authority’s instructions. A regional homepage is not a property-specific forecast.
Check the route
Louisiana DOTD’s 511LA provides traveler information, including incident, closure, construction and camera map layers. Review the route before leaving; conditions can change after you check.
Check the plan
If you are attending a public hearing, revisit the official agenda and participation instructions that day. Save links to the original sources rather than circulating a screenshot without its timestamp.
Our Resource Desk keeps these starting points together. It links to current official information; it does not operate an emergency alert service.
